We have a 20-hole links, two extra par-3s in play daily, running through majestic dunes on the Irish Sea just 30-miles south of Dublin.
The links was designed by Pat Ruddy and has been ranked in the World Top-100 (GOLF magazine USA and others) constantly since 1994.
While the links measures 7400 yards off the back tees it can play at a friendlier 5,500 yards off the most forward tees. Tiger Woods holds the links record at 67 and winners here have included Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington.
This is an amazingly kind links for players of modest ability providing they select the correct tees to suit their game and follow desinger Pat Ruddy's advice to play cautious golf when desired. He loves to advise players to Piddle, Piddle up the middle ... then pitch and putt. Always hit to short grass you can reach. The bunkers are very famous as they are all lined with railway sleepers and look quite onimous on the landscape. But there is ample room to play around gthem as there is no other worldclass links with the rough cut back so wide and the emphasis is on the cerebral game rather than the brute force game.
A big advantage is that The European Club is only 3-miles off the M-11 motorway which runs down Ireland's east coast from Belfast, past Dublin and into the sunny southeast where daytime rain is less than 50% what falls on the far Atlantic Coast. This motorway, also known as European 1, links four of the world's Top-100 courses --- European, Portmarnock, Royal County Down and Portush .... and offers the delights of Dublin's cultural and nightlife just 40-minutes away.
