The 6,282 yard-long course of the Letterkenny Golf Club was designed by the now deceased famous Eddie Hackett and has par 72 with a standard scratch of 71 from the white tee-offs. A mature18-hole parkland course on the shores of Lough Swilly. The first ten holes are relatively flat with the 11th Par 5 playing up to the top seven holes that are played on a plateau, offering golfers a panoramic view of the picturesque wooded landscape, mountains, and river. The fairways are framed by trees and can be played mostly all year round. There are several lakes and drains that wind over the course and plays a role in many of the first ten holes.

The Letterkenny Golf Club opened its new clubhouse in 1998 following major redevelopment of the course by Declan and Ronan Branigan. The 930 m² clubhouse offers an excellent fine dining restaurant, bar, and grill with a fully equipped Golf Shop while preserving the charm of the original country residence despite the modern design. The Bar has an open gas fireplace, a tastefully decorated lounge, and a friendly atmosphere. Many cheerful celebrations took place here in the evening and visitors will receive a typical warm "Donegal Welcome!" at Letterkenny Golf & Social Club.
