The 18-hole course of Club de Golf Valderrama (opened in 1985) is one of the most well known golf courses in the world. In 1997 the Ryder Cup came to Valderrama and to European Continent for the first time. Valderrama also hosted the Volvo Masters from 1988-1996 and again 2002-2007. The course designed by Robert Trent Jones is legendary and offers besides of dense meditterrean vegetation white marmol bunkers and spectacular water hazards like the famous 17th hole.
