The 18 hole Holbæk Golfklub was founded in 1964 as a 9-hole course on an islet - Kirsebærholmen - in Holbaek Fjord on Sjælland. The course was designed by Frederik Dreyer and was basically a seaside course. The location is unique, and Kirsebærholmen is one of the few places in Denmark where you can still find pristine meadows and a rich and varied birdlife. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1994. These holes were designed by Jan Sederholm. The last nine holes offer beautiful views of Kirsebærholmen, the fjord and Tuse Naes. Almost every hole is located within the coastal protection line. The course is relatively short. It is reasonably flat, sometimes wind come into play. There are many lakes and bunkers therefore the course requires solid and accurate shots. Despite of length the course is challenging for low handicaps.
