The 45-hole PGA Sweden National (2009) is located a few kilometers outside of Malmö on the former grounds of Torup castle. PGA Sweden National is the finest golfing resort in Scandinavia with two great golf courses - a classic links golf course Links Course and a park land inspired course Lakes Course. Both of them marry to nature and blend with beautiful harmony to the surrounding area. PGA Nationals courses are designed by Kyle Phillips, one of the most renowned architects in golf today. He is known for his ability to produce courses which seemed to have been there for centuries in spite of the fact they have been recently constructed.
The Links Course is a classic 18 hole championship course created in tandem with nature. The course has the typical characteristics of links golf with large undulating greens and numerous small deep bunkers. The greens are built on a bed of sand then shaped to liken the soft sand dunes of a typical Scottish links course. The grass specification for the links course is a fescue blend, providing the playing characteristics typical to links courses. The course is a demanding and exciting golf experience.
The Lakes Course - inspired by Florida golf courses - was inaugurated by the current European Tour winner Peter Hanson and golf course architect Kyle Phillips. Here the player faces typical creeping bent grasses, small greens, more water hazards and large bunkers. The course has been built with the most modern methods and completely in harmony with nature. Right from the opening, the Lakes Course is a terrific test of golf and thoroughly examines the best of quality players. You play with the clubhouse in the background and views over the beautiful countryside. The large, purpose-built lake bordering holes 9, 17 and 18 is daunting and provides a true test and fabulous backdrop for any connoisseur of the game.
PGA Sweden National hosted the Scandinavian Masters on the Lake Course in 2014. The event again returned to this golf facility in 2015.
The nine-hole Academy Course consists of nine full-length par 3s that have the same green and tee quality as the Link and Lakes Courses. The course is perfect for those who want to have a quick round or want to practice their short game and iron play. The Academy Course is also open for Pay & Play. You do not have to have a green card to play.
